  3. Notes on LORVAD  (formerly Printers Devil) fonts:
  4. Albatross is a text body font with a moderately short x-height. The relative
  5. point size is a bit small (i.e. 14 point is closer to what most people would
  6. consider 12 point). It contains all the regular characters and many special
  7. characters. Shareware $10.
  8.  
  9. Judas is a display font patterned on Adobe wood type Ironwood. It contains
  10. only caps, numbers, and a few special characters. It seems to look best at
  11. 16 points or larger. Very interesting negative space. It is shareware-$10
  12. (or thirty silver dollars if you want us to feel guilty).

  14. LORVAD fonts include: Bodidly Bold, Oswald Black, Oswald Grey, BlackForest,
  15. InkaBod, CartWright, Judas, Albatross, and Dedalus
  16.  
  17. These fonts are NOT demos. They contain all the regular alphanumeric
  18. characters. Most contain an assortment of special characters. Fonts contain
  19. hinting; usually over one hundred kerning pairs are defined. AFM files are
  20. included. Bodidly Bold, Oswald Black, Blackforest, Inkabod, CartWright, Judas,
  21. Albatross, and Dedalus are type 1 PostScript fonts and may also be used with
  22. ATM on non-PostScript printers. Oswald Grey, a type 3 font, may only be used
  23. on PostScript printers.  It has an 80% grey fill with a black border.

  25. Bodidly Bold and Oswald Black look great in small or large sizes. I'd
  26. recommend using Oswald Grey at 24 points or larger.

  28. BlackForest and Inkabod are designed without any curves. With one or two
  29. exceptions all angles are multiples of 45 degrees. BlackForest has an old
  30. world German feel. It seems to look best about 24 points. InkaBod is based on
  31. the bitmapped font Nordic. On the LaserWriter it looks great at 14 points and
  32. above. On the ImageWriter, try it at 18 points and larger.

  34. CartWright is inspired by the Adobe wood type Ponderosa font. It contains
  35. only the basic 90+ characters.

  37. The bitmap screenfonts are just your basic Fontographer-generated characters
  38. with minimal touchup. With ATM on the market I'd rather spend my time
  39. polishing up the PostScript file than slaving over an archaic bitmap
  40. screenfont.

  42. LORVAD fonts are distributed in the spirit of shareware. Try them out for a
  43. month. If you decide to keep any of these fonts you are required to send a
  44. $10 per font registration fee to:

  48. Please indicate what font(s) you are registering. Maryland residents should
  49. include 5% sales tax.

  51. These products may be distributed freely as long as the following conditions
  52. are met: The files may not be modified and this notice must be included with
  53. each font or group of LORVAD fonts; Fonts may be included on collections of
  54. Public Domain and Shareware disks providing that no more than $10 is charged
  55. for the disk. Distribution by electronic BBS is allowed.

  57. If you paid for a disk with any of these fonts you are still required to send
  58. in your registration fee if you decide to keep them.

  60. The Bottom Line: We will continue to release laser fonts in a non-crippled
  61. format as long as there is a fair response to the registration fee.
